Malaysia offers outstanding value for money across every sector, especially with healthcare. This gives the country a significant advantage because studies consistently show that when it comes to healthcare, one of the biggest concerns of potential patients from all corners of the globe is the hefty cost that comes with good quality treatment.
As a result, Malaysia compares favourably with regional neighbours, offering considerable savings over countries such as Singapore and Thailand. Visitors from the US can save up to 60-80% of what they would typically spend on procedures in their home country.
Many of the doctors and care workers in Malaysia studied in prestigious global institutions under the tutelage of some of the finest medical minds. Our skilled doctors have not only learned from some of the best, but they are also multilingual, highly skilled and work to the same model as their western counterparts, making them familiar with Western standards of healthcare. It is unsurprising then that our private hospitals meet the global gold standard of healthcare, acknowledged by JCI*, MSQH, RTAC*, and are equipped with ISQua* accreditation.
Malaysia’s healthcare has impeccable quality and has won several awards. Most recently, in 2020, we attained the position as the Top Asian Country for Retirement and Healthcare by International Living. We also emerged as one of the top 10 wellness destinations by MATTA. Malaysia’s ranking of eight outpaces many other famous locations and affirms the country’s unique ability to attract travellers from around the world.
In 2018, Malaysia was voted The World’s Top Healthcare Travel Destination by Volume by The Global Market Report by LangBuisson. International Living also recognised Malaysia as the Best Country in the World for Healthcare for an impressive 5 years in a row from 2015 to 2019. Meanwhile, the International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) rates us Destination of the Year from 2015 to 2017.
Winning these awards can be attributed in part to the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and its policy of ensuring that every patient has a memorable experience, for all the right reasons.
The end-to-end healthcare travel ecosystem we have established covers every aspect of a healthcare traveller’s journey. From answering preliminary enquiries via the MHTC Call Centre, to giving them a uniquely personalised welcome into the country.
The MHTC Call Centre is accessible to all healthcare travellers. We assist in making informed decisions as they start their healthcare travel journey right up to their arrival in Malaysia. Upon arrival, and for a hassle-free experience, Malaysia Healthcare Concierge & Lounge (MCL) personnel will greet healthcare travellers at the aerobridge upon disembarkation, who will then be guided through a fast-tracked immigration process. The MCL also serves as a one-stop centre for information and facilitates arrangements for transport, accommodations, and travels in Malaysia.
The Immigration Department of Malaysia also works together with MHTC to facilitate a more convenient visa application, issuance, and approval processes for healthcare travellers. We also have representative offices in Vietnam, Myanmar, and Indonesia that are always ready to furnish assistance to prospective healthcare travellers from these countries.
We provide a calming and peaceful journey in an unfamiliar environment from pre- to post-treatment. To know more about our five-star, end-to-end services, please read here.
