Kuala Lumpur, 17 October 2024 — The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) showcases Malaysia Healthcare Pavilion in Indonesia at Batam Medica Expo (BME) 2024 from 17th to 20th October in Batam Mega Mall. This marks an opportunity to share Malaysia Healthcare offerings to the Batam audience—a new and emerging market in MHTC’s Indonesia market strategy. Rahmatullah Baragau, Director of Indonesia Market, stated, " In 2019, Malaysia received over 1.3 million medical tourists, and a significant portion came from Indonesia. Batam and Kepulauan Riau (KEPRI) present substantial growth opportunities for Malaysia's healthcare tourism industry. Their geographic proximity, expanding population, and increasing healthcare demand position these regions as key areas for expanding Malaysia's role as a preferred medical tourism destination. This is why MHTC will be increasingly focusing on these regions in the coming years as part of our ASEAN market strategy."
BME’s participating hospitals include:
Together, these healthcare institutions will showcase the best of Malaysia’s medical offerings, highlighting the advanced care available for Indonesian patients.
MHTC remains committed in positioning Malaysia as the preferred healthcare travel destination for medical tourists from Indonesia, seeking quality medical treatments and services to complement their local healthcare. Recognising the growing needs of Indonesian healthcare travellers, MHTC seeks to further augment its offerings by providing a comprehensive platform to access treatment information and second opinions for medical care abroad.
