JAKARTA, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) will continue to boost the promotion of Malaysian hospitality and healthcare services in Indonesia, which is seen as having a large market with its population exceeding 260 million people.

MHTC Commercial Division chief officer, Nik Yazmin Nik Azman said over 670,000 Indonesian nationals obtained medical treatments and hospitality in Malaysia last year.

"MHTC holds the 2019 Malaysia Healthcare Expo (2019 MHX) programme in the effort to promote Malaysia Healthcare globally, by focusing on Indonesia as one of our major markets," she said.

The 2019 MHX, which started yesterday until today, at Central Park Mall, here, is participated by 11 private Malaysian health centres and institutions.

"The 2019 MHX will also be held in several other major cities in Indonesia this year," she said.

MHTC was set up in 2005 under the Health Ministry to monitor the medical and hospitality innovations in Malaysia.

The Malaysian Health Tourism Industry reaped a return of over RM1 billion each year by focusing on medical tourists from Indonesia, other than China and India.
