The Cambodian Muslim Development Foundation (CMDF) and Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) – a Malaysian government organisation — on August 24 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide more treatment options in Malaysia for Cambodian citizens.

The document was signed by CMDC president Othsman Hassan and MHTC CEO Muhammad Daud Muhammad Arif in Phnom Penh, as was witnessed by several lawmakers.

The National Assembly said that the MoU will provide more options for Cambodian patients to experience the latest treatments through the modern medical services available in Malaysia.

Quoting Hassan, the assembly said the MoU would contribute to discounts of 50 to 60 per cent over market prices. The services on offer include travel, security, accommodation and healthy food.

Muhammad Arif said that he hoped CMDF would become a major partner of the MHTC in Cambodia to facilitate and council patients as they selected hospitals and expert doctors.

NA said that MHTC is an initiative by the Ministry of Health of Malaysia and has 79 member hospitals. It promotes healthcare services for international patients.
