YOGYAKARTA, 27 November 2025 — Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) lands in Yogyakarta with the Malaysia Healthcare Expo (MHX) Yogyakarta 2025, scheduled to take place from 27 to 30 November 2025 at Pakuwon Mall, Yogyakarta. Marking its first presence in this city, this edition of the expo reinforces MHTC’s sustained commitment to positioning Malaysia as the preferred and trusted healthcare destination for Indonesians, while further strengthening partnerships with member hospitals, media, and key local stakeholders. The initiative also underscores Malaysia’s broader aspiration to enhance cross-border healthcare collaboration and expand its presence in emerging regional markets.
Yogyakarta continues to serve as a strategic focal point for Malaysia Healthcare’s outreach, given its dynamic demographic and cultural landscape that aligns closely with Malaysia’s healthcare positioning. Recognised as Indonesia’s “Kota Pelajar” (City of Students), Yogyakarta is home to top academic and medical institutions such as Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, and Universitas Islam Indonesia, which have cultivated an educated and health-conscious population. Responding to the city’s growing demand for specialised and high-quality healthcare services, Malaysia Healthcare Expo (MHX) Yogyakarta 2025 brings together 14 leading Malaysian hospitals, including three Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital (FMTH) finalists such as Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Island Hospital, and Subang Jaya Medical Centre, along with Gleneagles Hospital Penang, Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Medical Centre Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Medical Centre Penang, Prince Court Medical Centre, Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara, Northern Heart Hospital Penang, MSU Medical Centre, Cengild G.I. Medical Centre, Beacon Hospital, and Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur. This diverse participation reflects Malaysia’s comprehensive healthcare ecosystem and its commitment to providing patients with trusted, world-class medical care across a wide range of specialties.
“Yogyakarta has always been a meaningful market for Malaysia Healthcare, not only because of its educated and health-aware community, but also its shared appreciation for holistic wellbeing,” said Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of MHTC. “Through MHX Yogyakarta 2025, we aim to deepen our engagement with the community and facilitate access to Malaysia’s internationally accredited healthcare services. This initiative is more than a showcase. It represents our ongoing effort to build trust, strengthen cross-border partnerships, and contribute to improved health outcomes for Indonesians seeking world-class medical care.”
Echoing this sentiment, Suriaghandi Suppiah also highlighted the broader significance of Malaysia’s outreach. “Malaysia and Indonesia share deep cultural and historical ties, and this connection forms a strong foundation for healthcare collaboration. Our vision is to offer patients from Yogyakarta and across Indonesia a seamless healthcare journey, one that combines medical precision, empathy, and the hospitality Malaysia is known for. As we lead up to the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026, initiatives such as MHX Yogyakarta 2025 play a crucial role in strengthening regional networks, expanding accessibility, and positioning Malaysia as a hub for integrated medical and wellness travel within ASEAN.”
Malaysia Healthcare Expo series also serves as a lead-up to the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026, a national initiative spearheaded by MHTC to position Malaysia as the premier global destination for medical and wellness travel. Anchored on the theme “Healing Meets Hospitality,” MYMT 2026 will highlight Malaysia’s distinctive integration of world-class medical expertise, advanced healthcare technology, and genuine Malaysian warmth, offering a holistic healing journey that nurtures the mind, body, and soul. Through sustained international engagement and strategic collaborations such as MHX Yogyakarta 2025, MHTC continues to expand Malaysia’s global visibility and reinforce its reputation as a trusted and preferred destination for healthcare travellers worldwide.
