SHENZHEN, CHINA, 15 JULY 2026 – Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), under the Malaysia Healthcare brand and in line with Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 (MYMT 2026) campaign themed Healing Meets Hospitality, is bringing MH Week to Shenzhen from 15 to 18 July 2026 as part of its efforts to capture growing healthcare travel demand from Greater China. The initiative comes as China continue to demonstrate strong growth potential for Malaysia Healthcare. In 2025, healthcare travel revenue for China market surpassed RM200 million for the first time, marking a significant milestone for Malaysia Healthcare. Between 2023 and 2025, the market recorded an average annual revenue growth of 31% and volume growth of 20%, reflecting sustained demand for Malaysia’s healthcare offerings. The momentum has continued into 2026, with first-quarter performance recording a further 23% increase in revenue and 17% growth in healthcare traveller volume compared to the corresponding period last year. These trends underscore growing confidence in Malaysia’s healthcare ecosystem and reinforce the importance of continued engagement with consumers, facilitators, referral partners, and other stakeholders across Greater China.

This sustained growth reinforces the importance of strengthening Malaysia Healthcare's market presence, with MH Week Shenzhen providing a dedicated platform to engage healthcare facilitators, referral partners, insurers, and industry stakeholders across China. MH Week Shenzhen is designed to facilitate meaningful engagement on Malaysia Healthcare within China’s healthcare travel ecosystem. The programme begins with a dedicated B2B networking and sharing session involving healthcare facilitators, referral partners, insurers, healthcare providers, and industry intermediaries, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and partnership development. Participating hospitals will also take part in the China International Medical Tourism Fair (CMTF), one of China’s leading platforms for cross-border healthcare and medical tourism, where they will showcase Malaysia’s healthcare capabilities to a broad network of industry stakeholders and prospective partners. This initiative also supports broader efforts under MYMT 2026 to position Malaysia as a preferred healthcare destination by highlighting the country’s strengths in medical excellence, patient-centred care, and integrated healthcare travel services.

Commenting on the initiative, MHTC Chief Executive Officer Suriaghandi Suppiah said that continued growth in China underscores the importance of maintaining a strong, sustained presence in the market.

"China remains one of Malaysia Healthcare’s most significant and fastest-growing source markets. As healthcare travellers become increasingly discerning in their expectations, it is important for us to continue engaging the stakeholders who influence healthcare travel decisions while creating greater awareness of Malaysia’s healthcare strengths. MH Week Shenzhen provides an important platform for Malaysian healthcare providers to build meaningful partnerships and connect with one of the most dynamic healthcare travel ecosystems in the region," he said.

He added that Malaysia Healthcare’s presence in Shenzhen reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening market access and creating greater opportunities for collaboration across Greater China.

"The Greater Bay Area represents a market of immense potential. Beyond its economic scale and connectivity, it is home to a growing population seeking quality, accessible, and personalised healthcare solutions. Through sustained engagement and strategic partnerships, we aim to make Malaysia Healthcare more visible, accessible, and relevant to patients seeking healthcare options abroad," he added.
