Balikpapan, 5 February 2026 — Health In Motion 2026: Healthcare, Wellness & Travel Fair officially takes place from 5 to 8 February 2026 at the Main Atrium, Pentacity Mall, Balikpapan. This event marks MHTC’s first official initiative in Balikpapan, Indonesia for 2026 and is part of the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026, themed “Healing Meets Hospitality”. The session brought together representatives from Malaysia’s leading private hospitals to explore opportunities for collaboration, enhance referral coordination, and align patient care pathways. It reflects Malaysia Healthcare’s strategic focus on collaborating with trusted local partners to deliver seamless cross-border care and improved patient experiences. Through an immersive and accessible exhibition concept, Health In Motion 2026 unites hospitals, specialist clinics, wellness centres, and travel partners at a single strategic location. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage directly with healthcare organisation representatives, access reliable medical information, and discover a wide range of health solutions tailored to the needs of individuals and families alike.

Health In Motion 2026 showcases the increasing cross-border activity in the healthcare and medical tourism sectors within the region. The Malaysia Healthcare Pavilion 2026's presence at the event demonstrates MHTC’s ongoing efforts to enhance regional collaborations and broaden market reach, supporting Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026 goals. Under the theme Healing Meets Hospitality, MYMT 2026 highlights Malaysia’s comprehensive healthcare approach that blends medical excellence with world-class hospitality to provide a complete patient experience.

Health in Motion 2026 also highlighted its extensive medical capabilities through leading institutions such as the Island Hospital, Penang, which recently won the first Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital Award 2025, as well as the Digital Innovation in Patient Service Delivery Award and the Excellence in Healthcare Tourism Revenue Growth Award. Joining the event is the National Heart Institute (Institut Jantung Negara), which was the winner of the FMTH Medical Excellence and Medical Technology Distinction at the Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital Awards 2025 (FMTH), and Subang Jaya Medical Centre, which recently won the FMTH Brand Distinction Excellence Award. Other hospitals joined the event are Alpha IVF & Women’s Specialists, Beacon Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Penang, KL Fertility Centre, Damansara Specialist Hospital 2, MSU Medical Centre, Prince Court Medical Centre, Sunway Medical Centre Penang, and Sunway Medical Centre Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.

Balikpapan holds significant strategic value. As a growing urban centre with strong economic momentum and connectivity to surrounding cities, it serves a broad catchment population with increasing demand for quality healthcare services. We see a strong alignment between the medical needs of patients from this region and the capabilities of Malaysia’s leading hospitals, particularly in key disciplines such as cardiology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynaecology.” Said Rahmatullah Baragau, Head of Indonesia Market, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC)

Practical aspects of patient mobility were also addressed during the event including travel facilitation, cultural considerations, and post-treatment follow-up. These elements reflect Malaysia Healthcare’s holistic approach, where medical excellence is complemented by hospitality, empathy, and patient-centric service design. The engagement further signalled Malaysia Healthcare’s intention to deepen its presence in Cambodia through mutually beneficial partnerships that strengthen both healthcare ecosystems.

As Malaysia leads the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026, initiatives such as this bring the spirit of “Healing Meets Hospitality” to life by combining high-quality medical care with warmth, compassion, and cultural understanding. Through these efforts, MHTC continues to build enduring partnerships that elevate healthcare standards and improve patient outcomes across the region.
